L. Schuster Memorial Dinner
There
will be a special Memorial Dinner for the
late Rev. Richard Schuster on Thursday, October
15 at the Italian Center of Stamford.

Holiday Gift Collection
The
20th Annual Holiday Gift Collection is
in full
force. This year's theme is Giving from the
Heart Ties Us All Together. Due to the
current economic climate, the need for donations
is even greater this year. If you would
like to learn more about sponsorship opportunities
or to sign up to receive a 'Wish Card', please
contact Takeia McAlister

giant gift wrapping parties in the Toy Workshop
will be held on two consecutive
Saturdays...December 5 and 12.

 Benefit
Bash St.
Luke's LifeWorks has teamed up with Lord &
Taylor for their Benefit Bash on Wednesday,
November 4th. Buy a ticket for $5 and
LifeWorks keeps the proceeds. Ticket
entitles you to shop the Benefit Bash and get 15%
off all day (including cosmetics and fragrances)
and 20% off a higher priced item (some
exclusions). Buy 4 tickets and get 1
free. Many events planned for the day
including 3 book signings, circus clowns from Big
Apple Circus and Friendship Bracelet making.

Interns
Available LifeWorks
has begun a new program to collaborate with local
businesses for internships. LifeWorks will pay
half of
the
interns hourly salary at $4/hour up to 20 hours
per week in a win-win arrangement for both the
agency and the business. Currently we are looking
to partner with local medical providers as
many of our participants have
recently
been certified as Nursing Assistants, Billing
Associates, Patient Care Technicians and
Phlebotomists. If your organization is
interested in taking advantage of LifeWorks

LifeSaving
Training Dr.
Thomas Nero
recently conducted an Automatic External
Defibrillator (AED) training for employees of St.
Luke's LifeWorks, and additional organizations
located at the Center for Children and their
Families. Stamford Hospital donated
the AED as part of the HeartSafe initiative
collaboration with the hospital and American Heart
Association. |

Receive Circle
of Excellence Awards Many
participants were recently honored, having
accomplished many achievements toward their life
plan goals. The evening ceremony was held at
the Woodland Auditorium and honored those
participants who have made great strides toward
reaching their
independence.

Chuck
Householder recently returned as a volunteer to
speak to participants in Life Long Learning.
A professional career counselor and motivational
speaker; Chuck's seminars focus around best
practices that help improve your chances of
gaining employment. Past workshops focused
on interviewing and job search strategies.
This recent workshop taught participants about
networking and how to make the most of on-line

There
are two openings for dinner
providers:
- Second
Thursday of the Month
- Third
and Fifth Fridays of the
Month.

you or your group are interested in preparing and
serving dinner at our Woodland Auditorium during
either of these days, please contact Elaine

Coffee
and...
Plans
to engage participants in a morning discussion and
planning session for volunteer and learning
opportunities could benefit from coffee and
breakfast foods such as bagels and donuts from
8:30-9am. We are looking for a
provider.
Additionally,
we are looking for an evening coffee sponsor as

Luke's LifeWorks distributes Thanksgiving dinners
to over 200 persons. Volunteers are needed
to help receive and sort donations for
