NEW CEO

LifeWorks Appoints Jason Shaplen

St. Luke's LifeWorks is pleased to announce that Jason T.Jason T. Shaplen Shaplen began his new post as Chief Executive Officer on January 25th.  Jason comes to us from Project Renewal, a large agency with a mission very similar to LifeWorks. His leadership position included oversight and direction of the agency's education, life-skills and workforce-development programs.  Jason was raised in Asia and his very diverse background includes roles as a presidential campaign speechwriter and a policy advisor for a Korean Communications Company.  A Fulbright Scholar, Jason also was a journalist whose work appeared in numerous publications including the New York Times and the Asian Wall Street Journal.  Click here to learn more about Jason Shaplen.

 

 

Holiday Gift Collection a Great Success

Recognition goes out to the many people who helped personalize, wrap and deliver gifts to more than 2,HCG Full House000 children impacted by poverty, homelessness and HIV/AIDS during the 20th Annual Holiday Gift Collection.  A GIANT thank you to this year's SPONSORS including UBS, Ed McGettigan, Pepsi, The NEW 96.7 The Coast, Two Men and a Truck, Culinart, Friends of Children, Knight Capital, TFI Envision, Purdue Pharma, and Stamford Special Services District.  Another GIANT thanks to the nearly 800 VOLUNTEERS who helped decorate our workshop and wrapped thousands of gifts at the wrapping parties. Finally, we couldn't have done it without all of our generous DONORS and DROP BOX SPONSORS, cudos to you all!  Check out some of the great Wrapping Party photos here.

 

 

Honor Your Mom for Mother's Day 
Show your mother she raised you right!  Make a donation to
St. Luke's LifeWorks in her honor and have a special Mother's Day card sent to her acknowledging your gift.  These lovely greeting cards will be designed by our very own children here at St. Luke's LifeWorks, and will feature the story of a mother who has successfully overcome homelessness.  Just make a donation on-line by clicking here and enter the mailing address of your mother and any other notes in the notes section of the donation form, or send your donation along with instructions for the card to St. Luke's LifeWorks, 141 Franklin Street, Stamford, CT  06901.  Attn: Mother's Day Card.

Many participants were recently honored, having accomplished achievements toward their life plan goals.  The evening ceremony was held at the Franklin Common and honored those participants who have made great strides toward reaching their independence.

December Activities

The children received a wonderful holiday party hosted by Galen Partners complete with arts & crafts, dinner and a magic show.
Among other holiday activities, they participated in a Kwanzaa event
where they learned to play authentic West African drums.
